OHIP covers one eye exam per year for patients under 20, and one exam every 18 months for those 65 and older. For patients aged 20–64 with certain medical conditions, OHIP also covers a major eye exam once every 12 months (see: Changes to OHIP Coverage for Eye Care Services). If your exam does not fall within these categories, you will be responsible for the cost. Please check with your health benefit plan to confirm whether you may be eligible for reimbursement.
