About Dr. Tomas Castro-Gruber
Dr. Tomas Castro-Gruber is a licensed Optometrist in Canada, certified through the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, he initially trained as a medical doctor and ophthalmologist at the Central University of Venezuela.
He completed clinical rotations in Cornea, Glaucoma, and Cataract at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (Miami) and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Before moving to Canada in 2009, Dr. Castro spent 13 years in private practice and was an Associate Professor at the Venezuelan Association for the Advancement of Ophthalmology (AVAO), training residents and lecturing across Latin America.
With his ophthalmology background, he specializes in counseling patients with medical and surgical eye conditions, including diabetes-related eye disease, glaucoma, corneal disorders, and cataracts.
Dr. Castro-Gruber has been married for over 33 years and enjoys spending time with his family. He is an active volunteer in the Oakville parish community.
